Fun Day video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bzbOrgZ1oK8 provided by Nectar Digital - take a look at the brilliant day we had with our local community.Thanks to everyone that came along to this year's Fun Day, it was a fabulous event with lots of people enjoying the various attractions at the Community Centre, Recreation Ground, Park and Town Hall.  Go to the Fun Day page for photo's and lots more information.

We have some new and unusual events planned for 2018 and the list is below with the dates for the events, get them into your diaries so you do not miss them:

28 July 2018 - Food Festival, Selby Market Place 9.30am - 5pm

Lots of street food stalls, food to take home and there will be a professional chef, Nigel Brown, giving demonstrations throughout the day.  Buskers will be on the Market Place and James Street to provide entertainment throughout the day. Great event, lots to offer. Also Selby Abbey have their Summer Fair so pop in and see what's available in the Abbey too.

4 August 2018 - Beer Festival in the Town Hall 4pm - 11pm

Yorkshire Beers and Cider provided along with local bands throughout the event. Ticket only event which go on sale in May 2018. Entry includes your first drink, commemorative glass, programme and entertainment.

3 November 2018 - Bonfire & Firework Event 6pm - 8.30pm

To be held on the Community Centre field with fairground rides available.  Minster FM will be on site to entertain people as well as helping with the countdown. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm and the first set of fireworks will be let off at 7.00pm with a second round of fireworks at approx 7.30pm.  Great FREE event for all the family.

9 November 2018 - Remembrance Service at Selby Cemetery 10.50am

Local schools and residents attend this service at the Commonwealth War Grave section of the Cemetery. Selby Abbey Primary School Choir will also be in attendance to help with the hymn singing. Everyone welcome. After the service veterans and Selebians will take the school children through the cemetery and place poppy crosses on graves where people are buried who lost their lives at war.

10 November 2018 - Remembrance Concert in the Abbey 7.30pm - 10pm

To mark the Centenary Year of the end of the 1st World War there will be a concert held in the Abbey, ticket only, £10 for the front section of the Abbey and £8 towards the rear. Carlton Main Colliery Band will be playing as well as other entertainment during the evening concert. Tickets will be on sale from the end of February.  All the money raised will go to Selby Abbey.

11 November 2018 - Remembrance Service at Selby Abbey 10am - Everyone Welcome

The parade will set off from Scott Road Community Centre at 9.30am arriving at Selby Abbey for the Service at 10am. There will be a service for 1 hours followed by Wreaths laid at the Park after the service finishes at approx 11.10am. There will be a march past the Mayor of Selby on the Market place and the parade will then march back to the Community Centre. The collection will be given to British Legion.

1 December 2018 - Christmas Market on the Market Place 9am - 5pm

Lots of lovely stalls and entertainment from local school choirs and bands throughout the day.
