Land Train coming to Selby for the Free Family Fun Day - sponsored by Selby Market Cross and Selby College provided by M. W. Road Train Tours Ltd. This will be a great attraction, taking people from the Community Centre to the other venues, Recreation Field where the pop concert is held, Selby Park with Brass Bands playing in the Bandstand and Town Hall for the Tea Dance. The ride is FREE of charge and runs from 12.30 - 4.30pm leaving and returning to the Community Centre on Scott Road.  There will be shops open in the Market Cross and a stop for people to get on and off to walk through to the Recreation Field.



If you know someone with a beautiful garden, secret garden or a commercial premises with a wonderful display of flowers why not enter them into this year's Selby In Bloom competition 2017.  Closing date for entries is Friday 14 July 2017 and entrants will be advised of the judging date.

We also hold an annual allotment competition - if you would like to enter someone with a beautiful allotment from Westbourne, Stonebridge or Pymble Allotment sites then send in the entry form (Available  the Town Hall) by Friday 23 June 2017.

Tim FitzHigham visited Selby Abbey this morning to hand over £1 to the Reverend Doctor Julie Watson and provide Eggs and Cheese to any Benedictine Monks visiting the Abbey.  This is an annual event and Tim has had a Pittancer Coat made specially for the occasion. GRANTS 2017/18

Every year the Town Council support local groups and organisations by providing them grant funding. The Grants submitted will be considered by Council on the 10 April 2017 at 7.00pm in the Town Hall.


Selby Town Council is the local authority for the town of Selby and is committed to working with partners and residents to make Selby a vibrant market town.

The Town Council have 12 staff including office, grounds maintenance and caretaking/cleaning staff.  The  Town Council office is based at the Town Hall on the junction of Gowthorpe, Brook Street and Leeds Road. Office opening hours are 10.00 am to 4.00 pm Monday to Friday.  There are parking spaces available at the Town Hall.

The Town Council are responsible for the Town Hall, Selby Cemetery, 3 allotments, 3 play areas, Longmann Hills Farmhouse and Selby Market.  The Town Council also manage the Community Centre on Scott Road and the Community Woodland on Bondgate. Selby In Bloom Competition is held annually and entry forms are available from the Allotment Page on our website.

Selby Town Councillors are also members of the Community Engagement Forum (CEF) and the Chair of the Central CEF is the Mayor, Cllr Steve Shaw-Wright.  Town Councillors are members of the CEF Partnership Board. Central CEF meet quarterly and engage with the community, other partner organisations and local businesses.
